Heart & Soul Cultural Contract

  • We do the right thing

We demonstrate an unwavering commitment to do what’s right in every action and decision, especially when no one is watching.

  • We use our creativity to solve real problems

We take great pride in thinking differently, pushing ourselves and our solutions to bring about change for our clients and for our company. Creativity means offering fresh approaches that have never been done before. We do not just copy and paste; we break the mold and then break it again with creativity that changes the way people think, feel and live.

  • We behave like owners

We behave like owners because we are self-motivated, self-disciplined, self-improving, and never think “that’s not my job”. We aren’t afraid to make personal sacrifices and work hard for long-term gain. We find a way, and don’t have time to make excuses or act like victims.

  • We create extraordinary value

We create extraordinary value by our work and service to others. We are very resourceful because if we are not delivering value, we don’t have a sustainable business. We repeatedly produce Work that Works.

  • We demonstrate passion for excellence

We take pride in the quality of everything we do or impact. We have a healthy disdain for mediocrity and “good enough”. We look at our work and ask ourselves: Is this the best we can do? We understand great work takes time and going BIG can’t always be properly measured in hours.

  • We believe we can be better tomorrow

We believe we can be better tomorrow than we were today. Our people search for the best answers, not just the familiar or obvious ones. We are thirsty for knowledge and hungry to improve our craft as storytellers.

  • We are vigilant about relevance

We keep one foot in today and one foot in tomorrow. We are prepared and know our stuff. We are eager to gain more knowledge and increase our skills to remain on the leading edge of what’s next. By doing so, we help brands avoid irrelevance.

  • We pay attention to the little things

We are in the communication business, so the details matter. Every conversation, phone call, email, and text sets the tone for our brand. Our interactions with our clients should be among the highlights of their day. We go beyond making clients “like” us; we want to turn them into raving fans and advocates.

  • We are energy providers

We are energy providers who uplift each other, not negative nay-sayers who drain the life from the organization. By relentlessly seeking solutions rather than identifying or dwelling on problems, we rise above the negativity that often plagues other organizations.

  • We respect the individual

We remain open and inclusive to others’ diverse perspectives regardless of title, level, tenure, race, gender, or viewpoint. We believe that human potential is the most powerful tool in the world.

  • We collaborate

We collaborate across the entire company. We open ourselves to others’ feedback and ideas because we believe in the power of “yes and”. We connect and spend time with everyone on the team, not just our comfort circle. We actively defeat silo-ism.

  • We listen enthusiastically

We listen enthusiastically to understand. We know that good listening is more than not speaking. We give people our undivided attention and set aside technology and other distractions to be present and engaged in the moment.

  • We communicate to be understood

We write and speak honestly, thoughtfully, clearly, and in ways that help to make progress. We say what we mean and mean what we say (and what we plan to do). We honor commitments.

  • We are champions for integrity and transparency

We are champions for integrity and transparency and view them as the fuel for trustworthy relationships. Being honest in small things is as important as being honest in great things.

  • We are intelligent risk takers

Innovation, improvement, and success don’t come from playing it too safe or staying in the comfort zone. Yet, we don’t take reckless or uninformed risks either. We take calculated risks, use our intuition, and take pride in thinking differently to push past the status quo.

  • We are mentally tough

We are mentally tough and overcome mistakes, turning setbacks into comeback wins. We know disappointment and rejection are part of life and part of marketing. We get over things quickly and focus on finding better solutions.

  • We embrace change

We embrace change and view being agile, nimble, and flexible as competitive advantages. We realize what got us here and worked before may not be sufficient to get us to where we need to go next.

  • We take pride in being authentic

We are real and genuine. We view vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness, and we are not afraid to show our humanness. If we make mistakes, we own up to them, apologize, and make matters right. If others make mistakes, we extend them grace and move forward.

  • We act with humility

We act with humility even though ambitions are great and expectations are high. We put others’ needs ahead of our own. We realize a person’s disposition is far more important than his/her position or title.

  • We have fun

While our passion for excellence is real, we keep a balanced outlook on work and life. We don’t take things too personally or take ourselves too seriously. We know the journey goes faster and more enjoyably when everyone can laugh and play.

We swear by the power of people.
Starting with ours.

Our team is lean enough to know each other on a favorite-scary-movie basis, while experienced enough to have worked with local, national, and global brands in every market under the sun.

*Heart & Soul swears by the power of all people, and is committed to building and maintaining a diverse hiring pool that offers equal opportunity to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ professionals.
